A History of the Social Safety Net

The Social Safety Net has been an integral part of America for decades. And, it’s importance has been felt America’s more so than during the Great Recession. ¬†America still faces a slow recovery from the Great Recession with an underfunded Social Safety Net. ¬†And, with historic levels of chronic unemployment and underemployment, Americans still rely heavily on the Social Safety Net.
